Kelvin Etemesi's fifth brace took his league goal tally to 11 with one game remaining until the end of the season.

FC Talanta held Nairobi City Stars to a 2-2 draw in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) match staged at the Kasarani Annex in Nairobi on Tuesday afternoon.

After a slow start to the match, Talanta began moving the ball around quickly and accurately. In the 13th minute, a good team move resulted in Michael Jairo getting a sight at goal but his shot went narrowly wide.

City Stars came ever so close to opening the scoring in the 20th minute when Dennis Oalo’s goal-bound shot was cleared by Talanata defender Peter Mungai.

Shortly before the half-hour mark, Brian Yakhama was brought down on the edge of the area however Ian Omondi's brilliant free-kick went over the bar.

City Stars took charge of the game and deservedly went ahead in the 37th minute courtesy of Kelvin Etemesi’s well-taken penalty after Talanta defender Andrew Kisilu handled inside the area.

Talanta did have a chance to net an equalizer when Brian Odhiambo was played through on goal, but his effort went wide of Elvis Ocharo’s goal, much to the relief of the City Stars bench.

The score was 1-0 to Nairobi City Stars during the halftime break.

Talanta were almost punished by City Stars when a sloppy pass gifted the ball straight to second-half substitute Newton Ochieng just on the edge of the right-hand side of the box and the Simba wa Nairobi midfielder drilled a low effort which Kevin Otieno did well to keep out with his legs as the Ken Kenyatta’s men breathed a sigh of relief.

Soon after, the hosts almost found the back of the net when a corner kick saw Peter Mungai presented with a shooting chance, but his effort was tipped over the crossbar by Elvis Ocharo.

City Stars upped the tempo of the game and in the 64th minute, as Kelvin Etemesi found his second goal of the match.

Talanta were not going down without a fight and the referee awarded them a penalty in the 68th minute that was converted by Alex Luganji.

Samuel Olwande and Ian Omondi had their attempts at goal in the 77th and 80th minute respectively saved by Ocharo as the hosts pushed for an equalizer.

The visitors' late pressure paid off as December Kisaka netted an equalizer in the closing stages of the match to ensure that Talanta held City Stars to a 2-2 draw.
