Gor Mahia coach explains worrying flaws ahead of crucial encounter with bitter rivals.

Gor Mahia coach Sinica Mihic is on a mission with the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) record champions.

The Croatian is walking a tight rope barely less than five matches into his reign with the Green Army. After managing two draws in as many matches, following a goalless result against Tusker and Bidco, the 48-year-old said finishing was the team's Achilles heel despite enjoying possession during his tenure so far.

"Our players are very good with ball possession and creativity. What is lacking is the finishing. I will need to do much more to ensure our team sees the back of the net many times,’’ Mihic told Citizen Digital.

Gor Mahia must address their blunt attack if they hope to repeat their heroics against a much-improved AFC Leopards' side that look reborn since Bonface Ambani took charge late last year.

K'Ogallo have scored a meagre four goals in their last five matches, a worrying sign for the coach considering that the team is locked in a three-way title race; something that is being witnessed for the first time in a while.

Gor Mahia will play guests to AFC Leopards at the Kasarani Stadium on Sunday in a rescheduled Mashemeji derby, which will also be one of the test matches at the venue ahead of the much anticipated CHAN tournament to be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania in August 2025.

Austin Odhiambo was the hero when the two sides met in April last year, as he scored the solitary goal from goalkeeper Lewis Opiyo's blunder.

With the attacking midfielder set to miss the clash because of an injury after sitting out the last couple of matches, Sinica Mihic must task his fringe players to step up and show their worth to the club.

Both Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards have their place in Kenya's football history being traditionally community clubs and their achievements makes them enjoy a large following.
