Gor Mahia coach Charles Akonnor has identified what his team have to focus on the most as it has let them down so far this season.

Gor Mahia coach Charles Akonnor may have watched his team win a second straight game but he is still not satisfied.

K’Ogalo beat KCB 1-0 thanks to Felix Oluoch’s 62nd minute goal on Sunday as they made it back-to-back league wins which sent them third on the standings with six points.

However, they had a number of chances to win by a bigger margin but could not convert which left their Ghanaian coach unimpressed as he admits such fine margins can be costly on some occasions.

“Today was better, we played a little bit quicker, we controlled the game, created chances but we could not score and it is still the area we still need to improve,” Akonnor told Azam TV.

“It is good that he [Felix Olucoh] scored. In the last match that we played, he was short of gas, a little bit tired. Do not forget he was not with us in pre-season so he struggled a little bit but we were very happy that he scored.”

What Else is Frustrating Gor Mahia Coach?

Akonnor was also full of praise for his countryman Ebenezer Adukwaw, who created the goal for Oluoch, making it two goals and an assist in his first three games at the club.

“Of course, very clever from Adukwaw, he could have scored himself but he was selfless and helped him [Oluoch]to score that goal,” he added.

However, the tactician’s frustration remains how to get his team firing on all cylinders and he feels they have mastered the hard part but are just lacking in the finishing.

“We have taken the three points but we will have to improve in the final third,” he admitted. “Sometimes, it is difficult to create chances but if you are able to create chances, you have to be clinical and it is an area we have to improve.”

Gor Mahia will play newly-promoted Aps Bomet after the international break when Akonnor will hope to see improvements from his team.
