Gor were forced to travel to Bungoma for their clash against Nzoia Sugar 12-and-a-half hours behind schedule after their team bus ran into engine problems on Friday.
Gor Mahia head coach Johnathan McKinstry has opened up on the difficulties the team had to endure in the build-up to their 3-1 win over struggling Nzoia Sugar at the Sudi Stadium in Bungoma on Saturday.
K’Ogalo did get back to winning ways courtesy of goals from Bryson Wangai, Benson Omala and Shariff Musa after Daniel Simiyu had given the hosts the lead from the spot.
Their first half was lethargic, with players showing clear signs of fatigue, something McKinstry has attributed to the side being forced to travel to Bungoma late after their bus landed into some form of engine trouble which delayed their journey by two hours.
McKinstry attributed the team's fatigue and slow start to unforeseen travel complications that delayed their journey to Bungoma.
“Coming here to Bungoma is always difficult. We had engine trouble leaving Nairobi," McKinstry revealed.
"We were supposed to leave at 5am, we ended up leaving at 5pm and never got to the hotel until 11pm, so it was a really long day. The guys were up and about for 18 to 19 hours. We saw that today."
Despite the challenging circumstances, McKinstry praised his players for their resilience and effort on the pitch. He highlighted the team's ability to adapt and rectify their mistakes, particularly in widening the gap between midfielders, which was addressed during the game.

Joseph Okumu: Stade Reims issue worrying update on Harambee Stars defender
French side Stade Reims have given the worrying reasons Harambee Stars defender Joseph Okumu did not feature in Saturday's Ligue 1 clash against Strasbourg.
“The key thing today [Saturday] was to get guys running beyond, and I think you saw that today for the second goal," McKinstry noted.
"The ball was sent to the right flank for Sheriff Musa to put that dangerous cross in, and then Bryson arrived at the back post."
He also commended the team's forward play, emphasising their effectiveness in creating scoring opportunities.
“Chris Ochieng getting in behind, putting in dangerous crosses that the goalkeeper can’t handle, and Benson [Omala] being on hand to do what he does best - score the goals,” McKinstry added.
