The Northern Irish football manager was not happy with the Brewers' display during their last league match

Gor Mahia coach Jonathan McKinstry has taken a swipe at Tusker FC, saying he did not expect them to play 'poor football' in their past Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) match.

The nineteen-time champions dominated the match, winning 2-1 courtesy of Sydney Ochieng and Benson Omala's goals.

In an interview, McKinstry criticized the Brewers' style of play, saying that despite the club's big budget, they continue to play the low-quality game.

"I do not want to be critical, but we all know that Tusker has the biggest budget in Kenyan football. They spend almost a million US dollars every year, but I don't see any football being played there," he said.

"It was primarily a colorless game where most of the action took part in the middle of the park, where Tusker resorted to route one football to drag themselves back into the game.

It's hard to play against them. Sometimes you expect this from teams down the bottom of the league," the former Uganda national team coach added.

Tusker is one of the most stable teams in the local league and is rumored to spend millions of shillings annually to cater for their operations.

However, their coach Robert Matano blamed poor officiating on their loss to Gor Mahia.

"Both were wrong decisions. We played well and deserved to win or register a draw but not a loss. It is the referee who influenced the outcome," Matano lamented.

Tusker has won 12 Football Kenya Federation Premier League titles, with their tough-talking coach Matano having won four titles during his career.

The Brewers are sitting sixth on the table with 25 points from 14 matches, whereas Gor Mahia lies second with 30 points with two games in hand.

Tusker will face bottom-placed Mathare United at Ruraraka in their next match, while Gor Mahia will make a short trip to Lang'ata to face Ulinzi Stars.
