Humphrey Aroko is confident of sealing a move to the Swedish giants after a successful trial, as he follows in the footsteps of former teammate Stanley Wilson.

Rising Stars Humphrey Aroko has set his sights on completing his move to Europe, signing with top-tier side AIK after his trials.

The Kariobangi Sharks midfielder wants to follow in the footsteps of his former teammate Stanley Wilson, who moved to AIK last year.

He had a successful trial with AIK earlier last year before signing a contract in August 2024, immediately he turned 18. He is now part of AIK’s first team.

Humphrey Aroko went to Sweden in January, where he trained with AIK, and he is now awaiting the final verdict.

At the time, he expressed confidence in his abilities, noting that he would give his best shot in the few weeks he would train with the club.

In a past interview with Mozzart Sport, he said: "I am here to train with AIK. I’m confident in my abilities and hopeful that everything goes well. My dream has always been to play in Europe, and AIK, being a big team, would be a great step in my career."

After the trials, it was evident that he impressed the Swedish side, and now, he is confident that he will be signed during the transfer window period.

The Rising Stars midfielder explained that there was a lot to learn as he pointed out that from the conversations he had with the coaching staff at AIK, he was sure something good was on the way.

He revealed that it was not a walk in the park, due to climate change, but he knew what was at stake and could not let the chance slip.

Aroko added that he aims to be a better player for the national team and Kariobangi Sharks, before switching focus to going back to Europe.

“It was a really great and eye-opening moment for me. It was a bit tough because I went in for the trials at the peak of winter and had to adjust quickly to the environment. But I gave in my best, and trained well,” Humphrey Aroko told Telecom Asia.

“It was a huge opportunity because most young players usually go for trials with the Youth Teams, but I got a chance to train with the first team, so it was massive. Wilson’s journey inspires me a lot, and I am confident that I will follow in the same path. That is my dream.”

However, now, his focus is on making Kenya proud as the Rising Stars shift focus on the U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), scheduled for April 27 to May 18, 2025, in Egypt.
