While Jeremie Frimpong is expected to compete with Conor Bradley for the right-back spot vacated by Trent Alexander-Arnold, Arne Slot highlighted his ability to cover for Mohamed Salah during the Africa Cup of Nations.

Mohammed Salah's participation in the tournament, scheduled for December 21 to January 18 in Morocco, could see him miss up to six Premier League matches.

"We definitely considered that when we brought in Jeremie. He can play right-back and right-wing. We knew we could be without Mo for up to six games, which is significant. Signing Jeremie addressed multiple needs, including covering for Mo's absence," Arne Slot revealed as per the Mirror UK.

Meanwhile, despite Liverpool's substantial summer spending spree, which saw nearly £300m invested offset by £150m in player sales, teenage sensation Rio Ngumoha has impressed during pre-season.

There is growing anticipation surrounding his potential first-team involvement ahead of this weekend's Community Shield.

"You never know how a young player will handle the pressure," Arne Slot admitted.

"Last year, 17-year-old Trey Nyoni scored against Sevilla. They have an incredible opportunity to train alongside world-class players like Virgil van Dijk and Mo Salah, observing their preparation and professionalism.

“This is a crucial step for their development, which is normal at 16 or 17. It's already impressive if they can perform consistently at a good level once a week. We strive to provide the best possible development environment, recognising the significant jump in intensity, both in training and matches, compared to academy football.

“We're mindful of that, but both Rio and Trey have had promising starts. Trey also played very well at Anfield four days ago.”

With Jeremie Frimpong’s arrival offering both tactical flexibility and timely cover for Mohammed Salah during AFCON, and young talents like Ngumoha and Nyoni continuing to shine, Arne Slot appears to be building a Liverpool squad with both depth and long-term promise.

As the new season approaches, all eyes will be on how the blend of experience and youth will deliver under Arne Slot’s leadership and hopefully defend their Premier League title.
