Aboud Omar has posted a defiant Instagram message after a clash with Eric Johana that led to their removal from Harambee Stars camp.

Kenya Police FC defender Aboud Omar has ignited a firestorm of controversy with a cryptic message on Instagram following his exclusion from the Harambee Stars squad destined for Malawi.

The Stars, who took off early Thursday morning for the Four Nations Tournament, did so without Omar and Romanian-based forward Eric Johana, following a reported altercation between the two on Wednesday night.

MozzartSport detailed the clash that led to their axing, highlighting the absence of both players at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport as the team prepared for departure.

"When someone tries to make you angry during Ramadan. You son of a beautiful woman. I am fasting," Omar posted on his Instagram stories.

The coaching staff and team members' attempts to defuse the situation reportedly fell short, prompting a decisive move by the team's management.

Coach Engin Firat, supported by the Football Kenya Federation, made the tough decision to drop the involved players, a move yet to be formally addressed by the federation.

In response to the void left by Omar and Johana, the team called up Vincent Mahiga from AFC Leopards and Shariff Musa from Gor Mahia to fill the gaps.

Additionally, Gor Mahia captain Geoffrey Simiti Onyango was also a late inclusion, replacing the injured Eric ‘Marcelo’ Ouma.

Several players from the provisional team were dropped, including Bandari’s David Sakwa and Murang’a Seal’s Bonphas Munyasa.

The focus now shifts to the Harambee Stars' opening match against the host nation, the Malawi Flames, on Saturday, March 23, with further matches against either Zimbabwe or Zambia slated for Tuesday, March 26.

The tournament serves as a crucial preparatory ground for Coach Engin Firat, who is eyeing the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in June.
