George Owoko has revealed the reason why he parted ways with Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) side Vihiga Bullets.
Owoko took charge of Bullets in October 2022 on a two-year deal, but he quit on Saturday, just one day before the club's league match against KCB.
In an exclusive interview with Pulse Sports Kenya, Owoko revealed he has quit the club due to the dire financial situation of Bullets.
"It is with a heavy heart that I've decided to take this decision as the situation at the club for the past five months has been extremely difficult.
Being a family man, I have not been able to provide for my family as I have not been paid for the last five months.
I have children in secondary school, and they are currently at home because I have been unable to pay their school fees.
Therefore, it is with much sadness that I decided to leave Vihiga Bullets. I loved my job at the club, but family comes first, and I must look for other ways to provide for my family," said Owoko.
Owoko admits he started considering his role at the beginning of February after his children were sent out of school.
"I was not on the touchline during Vihiga Bullets games against Mathare and Bidco United. I am now a free agent and ready to listen to offers," he added.

Owoko holds a Diploma in Sports Psychology and a Confederation of African Football (CAF) Level 'C' coaching license.
He started coaching in 2008 and he led Ambira Boys High School in Ugenya to clinch three Copa Coca-Cola titles in a row.
In 2010, he switched to Homegrown FC and helped the side to finish top three in the National Super League.
In 2016, he guided Barding High School to the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Associations men's football title after defeating Ugandan side St. Mary's Kitende.
In the same year, Owoko was appointed as Tusker FC's assistant coach, where he deputized Paul Nkata for one season before joining the Coastal side Bandari FC.
In 2018, he moved to Nairobi Stima and helped them to finish among the top three teams.
