Moraa, 23, has had a glamorous season and it has now even gotten better as she summed it up with an engagement ring from Lagat, a former volleyball player who is now a coach.

Reigning World champion Mary Moraa is officially off the market as she said yes to the love of her life, Richard Lagat.

Moraa, 23, has had a glamorous season and it has now even gotten better as she summed it up with an engagement ring from Lagat, a former volleyball player who is now a coach.

As reported by Nation Sport, the Commonwealth Games champion landed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Tuesday night, knowing that she would head home directly and have a rest.

However, her boyfriend had other plans for her, he asked her to marry him. Down on one knee, he went, holding a placard written, “Will You Marry Me?”

Moraa definitely said yes to the love of her life. According to Nation Sport, Moraa who had tears in her eyes said: “No words can express what I am feeling now. It’s a wonderful night.

Let those who were eyeing me know that the chapter is closed. That was a big surprise…I thought it was the usual welcoming ceremony only to see him on one knee proposing.”

Lagat also narrated how he met Kisii Express in 2021 during the National Police Service pass-out in Embakasi and it was love at first sight for him.

He was also happy that Moraa said yes to his proposal and described some of her virtues. “She is an amazing girl, easy to be around with, cheerful, humorous, and a good dancer,” he said.

On her part, Moraa has had a glamorous season, winning all the 800m races except the race at the Prefontaine Classic where she finished fourth, citing sickness.

She now targets the Olympic Games next year with the hope of winning dominantly like she did at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
