Usain Bolt has answered the burning question of whether Kylian Mbappe could compete against him and win a race.

The fastest man in the world, Usain Bolt, has quashed claims that there is a faster footballer who can compete against him and actually win a race.

Bolt, a multiple Olympic champion, however, made fun of Kylian Mbappe, explaining that he would have loved to compete with him during his prime.

Speaking during a press conference at the 25th edition of the Laureus World Sports Awards, the double world record holder (100m and 200m) also insisted that Mbappe has to run a 100m race and document his time.

“No! I was asked this question and I would love to have competed with Mbappe in my prime to see how close he would be. I feel like one day he just needs to run a 100m race and let me see the time,” Bolt said as he laughed.

Meanwhile, earlier this year, the Paris Saint-Germain forward was compared to Bolt after a time he posted during a Champions League game.

Mbappe, widely regarded as one of the fastest footballers, clocked an estimated speed of 10.9 seconds over 100m, something that sent shockwaves in the football world but athletics fans remained unfazed.

Despite his time being over a second slower than Bolt’s world-record time of 9.58 seconds, the time is still not closer to Bolt since women have run faster times than his time.

Mbappe’s time could not even rank him in the top five fastest women in the world and therefore he is ranked joint-63rd on the women's 100m all-time list. The time would also rank him joint-433rd in the world when compared to times run by under-18 boys over the last year.

At the time, when he was asked about the comparison, Bot said: “I was laughing when I saw it. The girls are running faster than that."
