Olympic 400m hurdles champion and world record holder Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone has left fans worried after she pulled out of the Ed Murphey Classic on Saturday.
McLaughlin-Levrone withdrew from the event due to a high fever just weeks before the 2025 Toyota USATF Outdoor & Para National Championships, the qualifying meet for the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.
“I’m disappointed to have to withdrawn from the Ed Murphey Classic,” McLaughlin-Levrone stated. “I was looking forward to competing in front of the Memphis fans. I’ve been training hard and was ready to compete, which makes this even more frustrating. Thank you to the meet organizers and the fans. I’ll be cheering everyone on from home.”
