Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce will be retiring at the end of the current season, and Bromell has explained why the track and field community will miss him.
Trayvon Bromell has paid heartfelt tribute to Jamaican sprint legend Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce as she prepares to bring her storied career to a close following the upcoming World Athletics Championships in Tokyo this September.
Fraser-Pryce, a five-time world 100m champion and one of the most decorated sprinters in history, confirmed earlier this summer that the 2025 World Championships would be her final major competition.
After finishing third behind rising stars Tina Clayton and Shericka Jackson at the Jamaican national trials in Kingston, she earned a well-deserved spot on the national team—her last appearance on home soil.

She’s Always Been Good to Me - Trayvon Bromell
)
Speaking to NBC Sports’ Katelyn Hutchinson after placing third at the 2025 Prefontaine Classic, Bromell took a moment to honor Fraser-Pryce’s legacy and the impact she’s had on the sport and its athletes.
“It’s a sad thing to see, because she’s been such an icon in the sport. But it’s also a beautiful thing—almost like a peaceful rest from the Lord. She can walk away knowing she accomplished the highest of the highs. I’d want her to know: You’re the greatest.
“And I think we all know that and appreciate it. I’ve watched her since 2008. I admired how she always kept her composure, stayed focused, and remained humble. She never acted like she had to be the center of attention—she was always caring, always showed love.

“That’s a lot of the Jamaicans, man. I definitely love those people. They’re good people, and she’s always been good to me, too.
“ It’s sad to see her go, but she’s inspired so many young athletes, especially in Jamaica—and I know they’re proud of her.”
Staying Grounded in the Spotlight

Bromell, a world medalist and consistent presence on the global sprinting stage since 2015, also reflected on his own mindset and growth after his showing in Eugene.
Bromell finished third behind Kishane Thompson who ran a blistering 9.85 and Great Britain’s Zharnel Hughes who clocked 9.91 in second while he himself ran 9.94 seconds.
“For me, it’s about keeping my humility in check. I know that on any given day, anything can happen. You don’t want to get too high or too low about situations and opportunities, because that’s when things go sideways.
