National Champion Sha’Carri Richardson, World 200m champion Shericka Jackson, and five-time World 100m champion Shelly-Anne Fraser-Pryce have made the cut to the women’s 100m semifinal at the ongoing World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

Richardson, Jackson, and Fraser-Pryce won in their respective heats. Jackson was in Heat Three and she cruised smoothly to win in 11.06.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Michelle-Lee Ahye and Germany’s Gina Lückenkemper finished second and third in 11.16 and 11.21 respectively.

Richardson also oozed class in her Heat as she sprinted to the finish line and clocked 10.92, the fastest time in the heats. Jamaica’s Natasha Morrison and Italy’s Zaynab Dosso finished second and third in respective times of 11.02 and 11.14.

Fraser-Pryce, coming out of an injury also dominated to take top honours in the last Heat. She clocked 11.01 ahead of Switzerland’s Mujinga Kambundji who clocked 11.08. New Zealand’s Zoe Hobbs clocked 11.14 to complete the podium.

Great Britain’s Dina Asher-smith is also another strong athlete who made the cut to the semifinal of the women’s 100m.

The semifinal is scheduled for Monday, August 21, earlier in the day and then the finals are scheduled for later.
