Noah Lyles Brushes Off Nerves Before Facing Akani Simbine and Letsile Tebogo in 100m Debut
Noah Lyles says he feels excited, not nervous, ahead of his 100m season debut against top sprinters Akani Simbine and Letsile Tebogo in London.
“I had to force a reset in the middle of the season. And then on top of that, I got injured a few weeks later, and it was like, ‘Okay, wow, I'm really getting a break here.’
“It was just a lot of solitude, a lot of time with myself, a lot of time to rethink why I'm doing this, what I want to accomplish, what I want to get out of this year and many years after this.”
Noah Lyles said that the last three months had been like that for him, a slow and gradual process. He explained that he had only been in spikes for about a month due to the injury, and before that, he had still been training in flats.
“I wasn't able to get back into spikes because it was just too much. So, you know, just being very, very patient until the full reset,” Noah Lyles added.
After recovering from his injury, Noah Lyles made his 200m season debut at the Diamond League Meeting in Monaco, where he stunned Letsile Tebogo.
