The two-time Olympic 100m champion revealed that the Paris Olympic Games messed up a series of things in her personal and professional life, and at some point, she thought she would never be back competing again.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce noted that she was already going through some challenges, and failing to compete at the Olympics added salt to the injury.

Fraser-Pryce added that after the Olympics, there were a lot of emotions going through her head, and she would question whether she made the right decision not to compete in the semifinal.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce took a lot of time for herself, thinking about what she could have done if only she had decided to run, but after some time, she picked up the pieces and returned to the 2025 season with a different mindset.

“The fact that I was able to pick myself up from Paris and decide we’re doing another year in itself is a win because I was floored, Paris floored me. It kind of really messed me up because I had so many personal and professional challenges that I had to deal with,” Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce said on Nice Talk with Nikki Ogunnaike as per Jamaica Observer.

“And then to walk away not being able to compete in Paris just added to that, and it just made me feel like I was going to explode because maybe I should have walked away, maybe I shouldn’t have.

“You have all these conversations in your head where maybe I should have done something different. It took me a while to sit with myself and grieve what happened and then decide I’m doing another year.”

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce now heads to her final World Championships in Tokyo, Japan, this September, and her main focus remains on making a mark.

Having learnt from her ‘mistake’ at the Paris Olympic Games, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce wants to go all the way, and she is indeed not letting anything stand in her way as God guides her steps.
