Former World Champion Fred Kerley has put his past behind him and is forging forward as he seeks to bounce back with a win at the Diamond League Meeting in Xiamen, China.

Kerley, who failed to impress at the just-concluded World Championships after being knocked out in the semifinal, will be hoping to stun his rivals as he competes on Saturday, September 2.

Speaking during a pre-race press conference, Kerley was bullish about his chances of winning the race and spoke it out boldly with the surety that he would clinch the top prize.

“We all came for one common goal...to win and only one person can win, that’s me…simple,” a smiling Kerley said.

Talking about the disaster in Budapest, Kerley insisted that it is now behind him and he is now looking forward to making an impact in upcoming races, with the Diamond League Meeting his first priority.

In Xiamen, there will be 10 lanes for athletes in the 100m but that does not bother him at all since he already has eyes on the prize.

“It will be a good competition…10 lanes are unheard of but you have to look at the competitors. Budapest was Budapest and right now I’m looking forward to the next journey.

Whatever happened there is already behind me and I am ready for tomorrow,” Kerley said.

He will be clashing with Olympic champion Marcel Jacobs for the first time ever this season. The duo was initially intended to clash at the Diamond League Meeting in Rabat, Morocco but had to postpone their clash since Jacobs was suffering from an injury.

Jamaica’s sprint sensation Yohan Blake will also be in the mix to give Kerley a run for his money.
