Kenny Bednarek ran a great race to claim the 100m victory and stay in contention for a second straight $100,000 at the Grand Slam Track in Miami on Saturday.

Kenny Bednarek ran a leading time of 9.79 seconds to keep alive his hopes of winning a second straight Grand Slam Track title in Miami, Florida on Saturday.

Bednarek fended off the challenge of Jamaicans Oblique Seville and Ackeem Blake to win the race after recovering well from a not so good start.

The American kept his eyes on the line as soon as the gun went off and scorched his opponents to clock the 9.79 seconds with a +2.4 wind, just over the legal limit for records.

Jamaican duo Seville and Blake finished second and third respectively in 9.84 and 9.85 seconds while Zharnel Hughes of Great Britain was fourth in 9.87 seconds.

Bednarek then expressed confidence of winning the Slam while explaining how he is getting better in 100m

“I’m dangerous. I keep saying I need experience [in 100m] and I’m getting experience so see what happening,” Bednarek said after the race.

Bednarek now leads the men’s Short Sprints with the maximum 12 points and he can seal the Grand Slam Track title with another win in 200m on Sunday to clinch the top prize of $100,000 for the second straight edition after winning the first one in Kingston, Jamaica in April.
