American sprinter Kenny Bednarek believes his main rivals Noah Lyles and Letsile Tebogo will have it rough from him this season as he has ambitions of winning three gold medals.

Olympics silver medalist Kenny Bednarek believes 2025 is the year when he will finally end his long wait for an individual gold medal.

Bednarek has been playing second fiddle at the Olympics and World Championships as he has two silver medals at the Olympics and one at the Worlds but he feels the stars are aligning for him to win a major title.

The 26-year-old has been in the form of his life this season as he is yet to lose over the 10m and 200m races while the struggles of his competitors is also giving him optimism.

“My target is to come out with three gold medals, that is why I wanted at the previous years at the Olympics.”

Bednarek says the struggles of Olympics 200m champion Letsile Tebogo and world champion Noah Lyles, who are just returning from injury setbacks, is something he can capitalise on and finally win his first gold medal at the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo, Japan in September.

“This year is the year to put everything together and come out with three gold medals. Letsile Tebogo, talented athlete, you have Noah the Olympic and world champion,” Bednarek further said.

“Their season hasn’t really started out the way they wanted but I think they will be alright when the time comes but right now, I am focused on me and fighting out with those guys.”

The American says he has been growing in self belief since the start of the season and does not see any athlete that can floor him this time.

“I am very confident in my skills this year. I think the biggest thing I have now is a lot of confidence and practicing at meets and I think this is the year to get those gold medals,” added Kungfu Kenny.

Bednarek has been in imperious form this season, remaining unbeaten in both 100m and 200m during the Grand Slam Track, where he won all the three legs in Kingston, Miami and Philadelphia before the final event in Los Angeles was cancelled.
