Keely Hodgkinson's continued absence from key events, including the London Diamond League, has heightened concern about her fitness ahead of the World Championships.

Keely Hodgkinson has withdrawn from the Diamond League Meeting in London scheduled for Saturday, July 19.

The reigning Olympic 800m champion has yet to open her 2025 season due to an injury that has forced her to skip most of the meets she had been scheduled to compete in.

According to BBC Sport, Keely Hodgkinson is still recovering from a hamstring injury she sustained in February.

The injury has been a nightmare for Keely Hodgkinson, forcing her to skip the indoor season and also delaying the outdoor season. Keely Hodgkinson has yet to compete since winning her gold medal at the Paris Olympic Games.

Keely Hodgkinson was set to compete at the Keely Klassic, and, hopefully, attack the 800m indoor world record, but she announced that she was injured and could not compete.

The world 800m bronze medallist was also confirmed for the Prefontaine Classic but withdrew last minute due to injury.

The report further stated that Keely Hodgkinson has since returned to full training following a setback in June.

The Diamond League Meeting in London comes too soon in her recovery, and she wants to ensure she is fully prepared before returning to competition.

The Manchester-born runner's priority is reaching peak form for the World Championships in Tokyo this September.

Having secured silver medals at the 2022 and 2023 World Championships, Keely Hodgkinson is undoubtedly aiming for gold this year.

Keely Hodgkinson, who received an MBE in May, achieved a remarkable victory in the 800m at the Paris Olympics last summer, clocking an impressive 1:56.72.

She also set a British record of 1:54.61 at the London Stadium in 2024. However, her focus on a World Championship medal means forgoing the opportunity to compete on the same track this month.

Hodgkinson's withdrawal follows that of Norwegian 1500m star Jakob Ingebrigtsen, who was slated to race against Britain's Josh Kerr but is also sidelined due to injury.
