Korir faced a big blow after suffering a calf injury that has seen him fail to live up to the billing at the Diamond League Meetings.

World and Olympic champion Emmanuel Korir has assured his fans that he is slowly improving from his injury setback and will be back on track soon.

Korir has urged his fans to be patient with him and not put a lot of pressure on him as he heads to the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

Korir faced a big blow after suffering a calf injury that has seen him perform poorly at the Diamond League Meetings, something that was of concern among his fans.

He opened his season at the Diamond League Meeting in Rabat, Morocco where he finished eighth before finishing 10th at the Meeting in Paris, France. His latest race was at the Meeting in Stockholm, Sweden where he finished eighth.

“To my fans, I just want to tell them that it’s okay to worry. When representing the country, everyone expects you to be the best but they also need to understand that we are human beings and we go through a lot,” he said.

He added that in the Diamond League Meetings, he was trying to test his endurance and speed levels. He added that he did not want to push himself to the limits and affect his health.

“My main focus was on my health…I did not want to push that much for the position or time. I knew deep down that I wasn’t in good health,” he added.

He added that currently, he is doing well and training has been okay for him. He disclosed that he is sharpening his claws well but at the same time not putting a lot of pressure on himself.
