Ferdinand Omanyala is among the athletes selected to represent the country at the World Indoor Championships.

Africa’s fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala will lead a formidable Team Kenya to the World Indoor Championships scheduled for March 1 to 3 at the Commonwealth Arena in Glasgow, United Kingdom.

Omanyala started his indoor tour on a high, clocking a national record time of 6.52 to dominate the Elite Indoor Track Miramas Meeting on February 2.

He has his focus shifted to the Indoor Meeting in Paris on February 14 where he intends to dominate as he looks to clash against Noah Lyles in the global bonanza next month.

Meanwhile, Noah Kibet and Collins Kipruto will be competing in the men’s 800m while Vivian Kiprotich will be Kenya’s sole representative in the women’s two-lap race.

In the men’s 1500m race, reigning World Under-20 champion Reynold Cheruiyot will team up with the former champion, Vincent Keter with the hope of taking the first two slots in the final of the race.

The women’s 3000m race will see Japan-based Teresiah Gateri looking to dominate and bring a medal back home with the 4x400m men’s relay team being led by Boniface Ontuga Mweresa. He will be joined by Zablon Ekhal Ekwam, Kelvin Tauta Sane and Wiseman Were Mukhobe.

The officials in charge of the team include David Miano will be the team leader with the help of Benard Anyanga Ouma, Alfred Kirwa Yego, Josephine Nyarunda, and Stephen Ndungu. The team is currently in training and will depart for Glasgow on 28th February 2024
