The marathon will take place on April 21 following a one-year hiatus.
Organizers of the Eldoret City Marathon have expressed confidence in the preparations for the upcoming fifth edition scheduled for Sunday, April 21 in Uasin Gishu County.
Speaking to journalists in Eldoret town, race director Moses Tanui assured that everything was falling into place, with registration set to close on April 18.
Tanui emphasized that they were leaving no stone unturned to ensure a successful event, stating, "We have ironed out all the difficulties we had before and now the race is recognized by the AK and World Athletics, we also have the prize money already.
“ I can assure all the participants that we will have a top-level race."
Last year's edition, which was initially slated for September, was canceled just 48 hours before the race due to logistical challenges, including delayed arrival of running merchandise and lack of prize money.
However, Tanui assured that these issues have been resolved, and the race is now fully endorsed by the Athletics Kenya (AK) and World Athletics.
The organizers have allocated a total prize purse of Sh18 million for the top 20 athletes in both the men's and women's categories.
Winners of the marathon will walk away with Sh3.5 million each, while second-place finishers will pocket Sh1.5 million each, and third-place finishers will receive Sh1 million.
