Agnes Ngetich will be seeking redemption at this weekend's Adizero Road To Records after her dismal show at the World Cross Country Championships due to period cramps.

World 10km record holder Agnes Ngetich will be seeking redemption at the Adizero Road To Records following her bitter exit from the World Cross Country Championships due to period cramps.

Going into the senior women’s race as a pre-race favourite, Ngetich failed to live up to the billing after finishing a distant fifth in the race that was won by Beatrice Chebet. Her focus now shifts to the road race scheduled for Saturday, April 27 and she looks to bounce back.

In a post on her Instagram page, the 23-year-old said: “Ready to race again on April 27th. Cannot wait.” The race will be her fourth of the season, following the 10km race in Valencia where she broke the world record before competing at the National Cross-Country Championships and later the World Cross Country Championships in Belgrade, Serbia.

Meanwhile, the race has attracted 120 elite Adidas-sponsored athletes from 26 countries who will be competing over 800m, one mile, 5km, and 10km with the races will take place around the Adidas World of Sports campus.

As per Athletics Weekly, for the first time, the elite race course has been updated to be entirely run on tarmac and asphalt to make it even faster for the athletes. During the event, there will also be a number of special guest appearances, including Haile Gebrselassie, footballer Alessandro Del Piero and the German Paralympic athletics team.

“For athletes, runners, running fans, employees, media, influencers, sport, and business partners, Adizero: Road to Records means so much more than just a day of racing; it’s a celebration of athletes and sport at its best,” says Alberto Uncini Manganelli of Adidas.

“It honours the top performances in the elite races, and the unyielding competitive spirit at the heart of our brand, while celebrating all types of runners in the 5km run, from PBs-seekers to beginners.

“This event shows our relentless commitment to drive sport and performance to new, unseen and unexpected levels, to make the best products for all runners – it unites us, our teams, athletes and partners to the same mission.”
