Despite missing out on Team Kenya headed to the 2023 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, youngster Vincent Keter is not giving up on his talent.

The 21-year-old’s main focus this year was to make the cut to the global event but he unfortunately failed to deliver at the trials.

In a previous interview with Pulse Sports before the National Trials, Keter noted that he feels ripe to vie for a ticket to Budapest alongside oldies like Timothy Cheruiyot and Able Kipsang.

“My focus is to compete at the World Championships in Budapest later this year. I also want to compete in Diamond League Meetings as I build up for the same,” Keter said before the trials.

He, however, finished 10th during the World Championships National Trials and had no chance of being included in the squad.

After the setback, he took a break and is now slowly coming back into competition. The former World Under-20 1500m champion was in action during the Diamond League Meeting in Silesia, Poland.

He was competing in the 1500m against some of the world’s best including Jakob Ingebrigtsen and compatriots Abel Kipsang and Reynold Cheruiyot. Keter did not finish in the podium bracket but was impressed by how his body is responding.

"In this deep field, he managed a sixth-place finish and set a new Personal Best time of 3:31.28. He took his joy to his Twitter account and said: “I'm there. I'm improving. I'm learning.”
