Kandie will be hoping to debut at the global event this year.
The Kericho-based athlete is now looking to make his debut at the global event since he has never donned the Team Kenya jersey before.
“This should be about my third year since I started running and I have never made it to the national team. However, I want to change that this season by representing the country,” Lasoi said in a post-race interview.
Speaking about his win, Lasoi revealed that investing time in training is what enabled him to win the race. This marks the second time he has represented Kenya Prisons and won.
The first time he competed was during the Kenya Prisons Service Cross Country Championships at the Kenya Prisons Staff Training College in Ruiru last year.
He opened his season with a second-place finish at the Venloop Half Marathon in Netherlands on March 26.
