World Athletics Championships 2025: Faith Kipyegon Leads Dorcas Ewoi and Nelly Chepchirchir Into 1,500m Final
Faith Kipyegon eased into the final of the 1,500m at the 2025 World Championships to keep alive her dream of winning a fourth world title.
Kipyegon was not troubled in Heat 1 of the semi-final in Tokyo on Sunday which she easily won in a slow time of 4:00.34 ahead of Kenyan compatriot Dorcas Eowi, who clocked 4:00.65 for second place.
The three-time world champion slowed down in the final stretch in a bid to allow Ewoi into the second position and the two Kenyans were delighted to secure a place in the final.

Who Else Made it to the Final?
Kipyegon will be joined in the final by another Kenyan Nelly Chepchirchir, who won Heat 2, after fending off the challenge of Australian Jessica Hull.
Another Kenyan Susan Ejore could not make it to the final after fading off in the final lap.
Kipyegon remains the favourite to win gold over the distance in what will enhance her legacy as the greatest 1,500m runner of all-time in a race that she has dominated in the last nine years.
She won the world title in 2017, 2022 and 2023 and 2025 would add onto her collection that also include three Olympics gold won in 2016, 2021 and 2024.
The women’s 1,500m will be run on Tuesday, September 16.
