‘We often take risks’ - Okoye reacts to poor defensive performance following defeat
Bologna defeated Udinese 3-0 on their return from the international break, with the result placing them 10th on the Serie A table.
The only positive that was taken from the game was Okoye making his first-ever penalty save in Serie A.
However, he lamented about the team's overall defensive performance, claiming they need to improve.
Okoye speaks on performance
Speaking to Udinese's official website after the match, Okoye reflected on the game's key moments.
"I'm happy with the penalty saved, but not with the match, which we started well anyway," he said.
"That's football: I saved a penalty, but then I made a mistake on the second goal. We need to move forward and analyse the good and bad things we did today."
The Nigerian international called for a collective effort to shore up the backline, questioning their high-risk approach.
"Are we the worst defence? We often take risks; that's our football. We win, but we also lose like that," Okoye stated.
"We need to improve defensively, myself first. Mistakes are part of the game, but we need to reduce them. It's important to learn from these mistakes."
He concluded by emphasising the need for unity and focus ahead of their next fixture. "In football, the most important thing is the result, but we also want to play well. We need to stay united and focus on the next match."
