We are in the market — Real Sociedad president addresses Liverpool links to their star player
Real Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay has poured cold water on the reports linking their star winger Takefuso Kubo to Liverpool, who are in search of a permanent heir for Mohamed Salah.
Kubo as Salah’s replacement
Given Mohamed Salah’s advanced age and the imminent threat of big money move to Saudi Arabia, the Reds are reportedly evaluating the market for his successor.
They have been linked with Real Madrid's Arda Guler, who is believed to be amenable to leaving; however, recent reports have connected them to La Reale’s Take Kubo.
Kubo is one of the few players who can lay claim to having gone through Barcelona's La Masia and Real Madrid's La Fabrica academies.
He could not break into the team at Real Madrid, but since joining Real Sociedad, he has been one of their stars. The 23-year-old Japan international scored seven goals in LALIGA last season while creating 10 big chances.
Real Sociedad president’s comment
Aperribay, the president of La Reale, has addressed the rumours, however, explaining that they were not in negotiations with any team.
“There is no issue. There are no negotiations with any club," he told Mundo Deportivo. "We’re in the market; anything can happen, but Take is very happy here and he’s going to continue. We love him very much; let’s hope he stays at La Real forever.”
