Viktor Gyokeres: Arsenal Target's Payment Structure Revealed

The Viktor Gyokeres transfer saga from Sporting to Arsenal is nearing its conclusion with Arsenal's Asian tour departure scheduled for Saturday.

At the moment, all parties involved, Sporting, Viktor Gyokeres, agents, and Arsenal, are eager to finalise the deal by the end of the week. However, bonus stipulations are proving to be the final hurdle. Details regarding payment schedules and solidarity payments are emerging.

Agent Hasan Cetinkaya waived his commission (approximately €7 million) to facilitate the transfer. However, the deal nearly collapsed after Sporting rejected Arsenal's latest offer of €63.5 million plus €10 million in bonuses.

The sticking point remains the bonus structure. Sporting wants the full €10 million tied to realistic and easily achievable objectives, while Arsenal initially proposed only €3 million in easily attainable bonuses. This proposal was swiftly rejected by Sporting.

While Arsenal has since conceded and offered up to €7 million in realistic bonuses, Sporting's management, led by Frederico Varandas, remains firm on receiving the full €10 million in bonuses. They are adamant about securing the total €80 million asking price.

Negotiations stalled yesterday but could resume at any moment. Arsenal hopes to have the 27-year-old striker on their Asian tour, which begins Saturday.

Matches are scheduled against AC Milan in Singapore on the 23rd, Newcastle on the 27th, and Tottenham in Hong Kong on the 31st, the same day as the Super Cup derby between Sporting and Benfica.

Much has been discussed about the performance-related bonuses, but less about the payment structure and solidarity payments (training compensation owed to clubs where the player developed).

Typically, the buying club covers these costs, but Sporting is seeking a 50/50 split with Arsenal. Arsenal wants to spread the payments over four installments, whereas Sporting prefers two.
