Tottenham interested in £53m rated midfielder

English Premier League side Tottenham are reportedly interested in signing the Sporting CP midfielder Manuel Ugarte at the end of the season.

According to Sport Witness, Tottenham Hotspur have been monitoring Uguarte's progress through the season as they look to improve the club’s midfield options in the summer window. 

The report also says Uguarte is being followed by several top European teams but Tottenham seem to be the most advanced with their interest. 

Tottenham have scouted Uguarte heavily this season, sending scouts to watch Sporting's league and Europa League games and they have been impressed with his performances.

The Uruguayan defensive midfielder is blessed with remarkable composure and tenaciousness and he could prove to be a quality acquisition for Tottenham.

The Londoners will lead to add more depth through their midfield and the 21-year-old could prove to be a superb long-term investment.

Ugarte has a £53m release clause in his contract and Sporting are trying to extend those terms. It remains to be seen whether the player is ready to commit his long-term future to the Portuguese club.
