Ndidi, who impressed for Besiktas before reporting to camp, will miss the decisive match after picking up his second yellow card of the qualifiers in Nigeria’s convincing 4-1 semi-final win against Gabon.

Ndidi was outstanding in midfield during the semi-final, breaking up attacks and setting up Chidera Ejuke’s extra-time goal.

His leadership and defensive skills have been key to the Super Eagles’ success throughout the campaign, making his absence a significant loss for the squad.

Despite this setback, Chelle praised Ndidi’s importance to the team but stressed the depth available in the squad.

“Ndidi is an important player for us. His experience, ability, and leadership on the pitch are vital,” Chelle said in a statement released by the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF).

“But we will manage the situation. We have a large squad of players and we will make changes. Ndidi is still here with us and will support the team mentally and with his presence.”

Offensively, Nigeria showed great strength in the semi-final. Akor Adams scored first after capitalising on a defensive mistake, Ejuke grabbed the game-winner, and Victor Osimhen’s two goals in extra time sealed a dominant victory.

This attacking threat reassures fans as the Super Eagles head into the final against either Cameroon or DR Congo. The key challenge now is how Nigeria will adjust without their midfield general Ndidi.

With strong leadership from the coaching staff and squad depth, the Super Eagles are determined to keep their World Cup dreams alive.
