Samuel Eto’o: Barcelona legend accused of trying to ruin career of Manchester United star
Eto’o, who retired from football in 2019, after a massively successful football career, became President of Cameroon’s Football Federation in 2021.
Eto'o facing several allegations
Barely two years in the job and the 42-year-old has become embroiled in controversy, several allegations ranging from match-fixing to shady endorsements and corruption at the highest level.
However, a new allegation has been made in recent days. An ex-Cameroon FA vice-president accused Eto’o of sabotaging the international career of Man United goalkeeper Andre Onana.
The 27-year-old quit the national team last year after leaving Cameroon’s World Cup squad in the wake of a bust-up with the coaching staff.
Now, Henry Njalla Quan claims Eto’o is the driving force behind Onana’s exile, speaking via the Mail:
“I formally asked him about the future of our goalkeeper in the national team, and he replied that the boy's career is over and that the letter he sent to his (former) club – Inter FC – was to get rid of the boy, so how can anyone be so mean?

He further explained the real reason for the expulsion of Andre Onana from the World Cup held in Qatar, was because the president of the Cameroonian football federation, Samuel Eto’o, wanted to get rid of the Inter goalkeeper at all costs.
“The stars of the national team are being suffocated by someone who was a star himself when he was a footballer, and wants to remain a star as a manager.
“In every meeting, he is there, in every training session he is there. Even the coach feels suffocated by his omnipresence."
