Sadio Mane reunites with teenage wife following AFCON heartbreak

Sadio Mane has returned home to his teenage wife Aisha Tamba after Senegal's disappointing exit from the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d'Ivoire. 

The Al Nasr forward, who tied the knot with Tamba in a traditional Islamic arranged marriage ceremony just before the tournament was seen in a heartwarming video clip shared on social media displaying a rare moment of personal joy amidst his professional disappointment.

Mane, 31, married Tamba in an Islamic ceremony held in Keur Massar, near Dakar, Senegal, on January 7. 

The union arranged in traditional Islamic fashion sparked widespread discussions on social media with many expressing surprise at the age gap. 

Tamba, who hails from a large family in Dakar, is now preparing to embark on a new life in Saudi Arabia, where Mane plays alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Mane's return home follows a bittersweet campaign at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

 Despite Senegal's early exit after a penalty shootout loss to the host nation, Cote d'Ivoire, Mane delivered a commendable performance. 

The former Liverpool star scored a goal and provided three assists in four matches, demonstrating his undiminished prowess on the field.

Expressing his thoughts on the tournament's outcome, Mane told Wiw Sport.

"Football is cruel. The God of football was not with us tonight. We gave everything, we did what we had to, even if I think we could have killed the match. But that is not the case, but overall I will say that the best won."

The focus now shifts as Mane is slated to return to Saudi Arabia next week.

 There, he will rejoin his Al-Nassr teammates, gearing up for the league's resumption following a hiatus due to the Asian Cup in Qatar.
