Premier League pundit Andy Townsend believes that Arsenal are still in the title race despite a terrible day at the office on Sunday.

Townsend made the comment after watching the Gunners suffer humiliation at the Emirates on Sunday evening.

Mikel Arteta and his team’s title aspiration suffered a major setback after a 3-0 thrashing from Brighton and Hove Albion.

It’s not over for Arsenal

The Seagulls were at the receiving end of a proper football lesson on Monday from Everton but bounced back in some style against the title contender.

Brighton are now within two points of European places.

An excellent second half display saw the visitors score three excellent goals thanks to Enciso, Undav and wing-back, Estupinan to put a serious dent of Arsenal’s title hopes.

It was their third consecutive victory against Arsenal at the Emirates, with the latest a decisive one for the Seagulls.

Andy Townsend says the title race is not over yet.

However, despite the defeat leaving the Gunners four points adrift of leaders Manchester City, who have a game in hand and thrashed Everton by the same scoreline earlier on, Premier League pundit Townsend believes the race is not over yet.

According to the former Chelsea star, the Gunners are still in the race but have come short when it mattered the most.

"Arsenal have been wonderful this season, and it isn't over till it's over, but it's looking ominous now,” Townsend said.

“They've been brilliant, but when it's really mattered, they've come up short.”

“There have been too many times this season when Mikel Arteta's side have looked second best, and that's been the case again today," he added.
