Osimhen once again played a decisive role as Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup hopes remain alive following a devastating 4-1 victory against Lemina and the Panthers of Gabon in Rabat on Thursday.

The two Galatasaray stars faced off in the tense African World Cup qualifier playoff semifinal held in Rabat, Morocco.

While Lemina scored a vital equaliser for Gabon to force an extra time after Akor Adams’ brilliant opener for the Eagles, Osimhen ultimately sealed the victory for Nigeria with a massive brace in extra time to close in on Rashidi Yekini, and sending the Super Eagles to the final against DR Congo.

Soon after the match, Osimhen took to his Instagram story to express solidarity with Lemina, simply writing, “Love you my brother.”

The brief but heartfelt message shows the respect and bond between the two despite competing fiercely on the pitch.

Lemina, who has described his disappointed after the loss, replied hours later, acknowledging the tough nature of competitive football.
