Nottingham Forest Line Up Former Tottenham Boss After Sacking Most Successful Coach in 30 Years
Nuno Espirito Santo has finally left Nottingham Forest after being relieved of his duties following a bitter fallout with club owner Evangelos Marinakis and Sporting Director Edu.
Santo was already walking on thin ice since August when he revealed that his relationship with Marinakis was strained and the club waited until the international break to execute his sacking.
Forest are now reportedly lining up former Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou to replace Santo but the Portuguese coach leaves the club with his stock high.

Santo joined the club in December 2023 to replace Steve Cooper at the time they were in a relegation battle and managed to save them from the drop despite having seen them deducted four points over financial breaches.
Santo Brought Success to Forest
He turned their fortunes around last season, guiding them to seventh place, their highest since the 1994-95 season while qualifying for European football for the first time in three decades.
Forest are due to play in the Europa League this season after being promoted from the Conference League following the demotion of Crystal Palace to Europe’s third tier club competition over breaches in club ownership.
However, that was still not enough to save Santo as he was reportedly unhappy with transfer activity this summer which left him at loggerheads with Marinakis and Edu.
Nuno’s Words that Led to His Sacking
"I always had a very good relationship with the owner - last season we were very close and spoke on a daily basis. This season it is not so well," Santo told the media in August.
"Our relationship has changed and we are not as close. Everybody at the club should be together but this is not the reality."
Those sentiments left Santo’s job hanging by a thread and despite Marinakis’ public assurances, it was a matter of when and not if he would be sacked, with the axe falling on Monday night.
Santo had endeared himself to Forest fans who felt he would continue bringing success to the club but now, they will have to fall in love with someone else, likely to be Europa League-winning coach Postecoglou.
