Newcastle outclass Tottenham to go above Manchester United

Newcastle United overpowered Tottenham Hotspur by picking up a 6-1 victory in a Premier League match on Saturday at St James Park.

The loss is a setback for the Spurs’ hopes of finishing in the top four.

Meanwhile, the Magpies ran riot against a stunned Spurs and, in the second minute, broke the deadlock.

Joelinton was given room to advance to the box from the left side as Christian Romero and Sergio Porro backed off. His shot was parried away by Hugo Lloris, but Jacob Murphy was lurking around to slam home the opener.

Newcastle scored the second three minutes after breaking the deadlock, and this time, Joelinton was the scorer.

Fabian Schar launched a cross forward over Romero, and while Porro did all he could to deny the Brazilian shooting space, the Newcastle forward got his first touch before he fired past Lloris.

It took the home side another three minutes to score their third goal as Spurs struggled to contain them.

Murphy blasted the ball past Lloris from 30 yards away, and the French goalkeeper could do little as he remained on his feet in the process.

The Magpies were not done yet, and in the 19th minute, they found the back of the net for their fourth goal. An incredible pass from Joe Willock put Alexander Isak in and the striker made no mistake as he slotted past Lloris.

The home side demonstrated high levels of confidence, and it rewarded them with a quick fifth goal in the 21st minute courtesy of Isak’s effort.

Isak, Murphy, and Sean Longstaff were all involved in the build-up to the fifth goal. The Swede international managed to put his cross past Lloris with St James Park rocking in celebration.

The second half started with a slight hope for a potential comeback by Spurs as they scored in the 49th minute through Harry Kane. The England captain drove past Schar and made a clinical finish by firing past Pope into the far corner.

Newcastle were not done, and in the 67th minute, they scored their sixth through Callum Wilson. Second half substitute Almiron brought a dangerous cross that first deflected off Romero for Wilson to find the back of the net from some yards.
