Manchester United Identify Premier League goalkeeper as possible De Gea replacement
Manchester United are preparing for a possible David de Gea exit and have reportedly set sights on Everton's Jordan Pickford.
Although the Spaniard is expected to continue at the club, with manager Erik ten Hag publicly expressing his desire to see De Gea between the sticks for the Red Devils next season, contract talks between both parties remain unresolved, and his current deal runs out at the end of the season.
Pickford to Manchester United
According to the Pickford-David-Gea-leave-summer.html" target="_blank">Daily Mail, the three-time Champions League winners have identified England's number one, Pickford, as a candidate to replace De Gea should the former Atletico Madrid man fail to renew his contract.
Pickford has emerged as an option, according to the source, as he could leave Merseyside after 234 games so far should the club drop from the Premier League, with Everton currently in 17th place on the league table and only two points above a relegation place.
United boss Erik ten Hag is exploring his goalkeeping options as negotiations over a new contract with David de Gea continue to stall.
The Spanish international is out of contract this summer and has so far turned down United's first offer as he reportedly holds out for higher wages.
