Lewandowski's LALIGA Lament: Frustration mounts as striker blasts defensive tactics adopted by teams
FC Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski has expressed his frustration with the defensive style adopted by teams in the LALIGA EA SPORTS.
The Polish forward, known for his attacking prowess, didn’t hold back in his thoughts on the league’s tactical style after putting an end to his mini-drought.
Lewandowski laments defensive tactics
The 35-year-old, who joined Barcelona last year with high expectations, revealed his discontent in an interview with what he believes has become a prevalent defensive strategy employed by several LALIGA teams.
Lewandowski said this during a chat about the race for the Pichichi trophy, where he emphasised that it has become difficult to score goals in the Spanish league.
“I think it’s not easy now to score a lot of goals in LALIGA,” Lewandowksi stated per Barcablaugranes. “Many teams play very defensively, physically as well.”
Despite his obvious frustration with the style, Lewandowski added that his defending champions, Barcelona, want to always win and score goals.
“We are Barcelona and we always want not only to win but also to score a lot of goals,” he added.
Lewandowski ends mini-drought
The comments by the Barcelona man may be connected to his recent goal drought for the champions.
Lewandowski went on a run of six matches without scoring a single goal for Barcelona but rediscovered his scoring boots before the international break.
He netted both goals as Barcelona defeated Deportivo Alaves 2-1 in Barcelona’s last game in the LALIGA. Lewandowski will be hoping to add to that when they take on Rayo Vallecano next in the league.
