LALIGA Preview: 5 talking points as leaders Girona face mounting pressure from Real Madrid and Barcelona

But in a possible twist of fate, matchday 14 will see the leaders watch other contenders ratchet up the pressure before taking to the pitch on Monday night.

Girona at the top
The surprise package of the season remains top with 34 points, two ahead of Real Madrid and four ahead of defending champions, Barcelona.

Challenging Matches in Madrid
Three of the four matches slated for Saturday will take place in the Spanish capital, Madrid.
Defending champions, Barcelona will be the centre of attention as they visit Rayo Vallecano looking to end a poor run against their hosts.
Xavi Hernandez and his boys have failed to win in any of their last four visits to the Estadio de Vallecas.
Also, unbeaten Getafe tackle UD Almeria while Atletico Madrid host RCD Mallorca, who is managed by a former Atleti boss, Javier Aguirre.
Benitez returns to Los Che
Estadio de Mestalla will host a special clash when they welcome RC Celta, with legendary boss, Rafa Benitez.
Benitez led Valencia to two LALIGA EA SPORTS title but will be looking to hurt his former club, managed by his former player, Ruben Baraja, as Celta look to get points on board.
Real Madrid’s title chase
Los Blancos are currently second on the table and chasing leaders Girona, who are top of the table with just two points between them.
