‘It's in his DNA to score’ - Super Eagles reserve goalkeeper hails Osimhen’s goalscoring abilities
The Super Eagles of Nigeria played a 1-1 draw against Benin Republic in their 2025 AFCON qualifiers yesterday night.
Galatasaray star Osimhen was on the scoresheet for the Super Eagles, with his goal securing a point for Nigeria.
The draw sealed an automatic qualification to the tournament in Morroco as they topped the table with 11 points.
Okoye reveals Osimhen's quality
The Super Eagles goalkeeper admitted that Osimhen is one of the most dangerous players he has faced in the Italian top flight.
In an interview with SportyTV on YouTube, Okoye said, "I faced also my brother Osimhen, it's also something not easy to face. A lot of quality players in the Serie A.
"Osimhen scored one goal against me, we played 1-1 at home against Napoli. It's in his DNA to score and for him it's not possible to not score.
“He's too much of a quality striker but people could see that he didn't celebrate the goal. It meant a lot to me, he has to do his job. This man is too dangerous not to score.”
Osimhen scored a vital equaliser on Thursday night at Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan to keep the Super Eagles from losing to Benin's Cheetahs.
Currently, Chippa United captain Stanley Nwabali is ahead of Okoye in the Super Eagles' goalkeeping ranking, making him the team's number-one goalkeeper.
