The Nigerian striker has been the toast of Naples this season so far with 14 goals in 16 league games so far in Napoli’s title charge.

As a result, Osimhen has become a big transfer interest for top clubs in Europe which led to Careca admitting that Napoli will face an uphill battle trying to keep him beyond this season.

The 62-year-old disclosed to Channel 8’s microphones during the “Legends” broadcast as quoted by Tuttonapoli as saying “Napoli is ready to win."

"It is clear that there are still many games to go, however, it has everything to succeed: a great goalkeeper, a great defence, a midfield that works very well and a very strong attack,” Careca continued on Gli Azzurri's chances.

Careca further shared his thoughts on Napoli's top scorer “Osimhen away at the end of the season? If he wins the Scudetto he will be more valuable than he is now."

"It will be difficult to keep him, there is no telling what the president will want to do next year. I hope he can stay, but I see it as difficult,” Careca concluded.

Sao Paulo-born Careca was a Napoli player for six years and part of the 'Ma-Gi-Ca' front three along with Diego Maradona and Bruno Giordano which won Napoli's second Scudetto in 1990.
