He is the heart of the team — Xavi singles out Barca star for praise after 5-0 win

Barcelona walloped Real Betis 5-0 with new signings Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo both scoring their first goals for the club.

Despite not appearing on the scoresheet, Xavi had high praise for young midfielder Gavi, who was deployed in his preferred central midfield position.

“Gavi is the heart of the team, he is a fundamental player. Many said that he was going to play less this season, but he is an exemplary footballer,” Xavi told Mundo Deportivo

Pedri's injury issues and the arrival of Joao Felix should allow Gavi play more in midfield as Barcelona prepare to battle on all fronts.
