Harambee Starlets Land Favourable Draw for LA 2028 Olympics Second Qualifying Round
Harambee Starlets will begin their journey to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics with a second qualifying round match against Seychelles.
Kenya landed what appears to be a kind draw on paper when they were paired with the African minnows and they need to win the match to make it to the third round in what will be a grueling qualifying phase.
If they beat Seychelles in the two-legged tie, set to be played between October 5 and 13, 2026, Starlets will take on the winner between Malawi and Zimbabwe in the third round set to be played between February 23 and March 6, 2027.
They will then proceed to the fourth round if they emerge victorious with the matches scheduled between October 4 and 12, 2027
Tough Road to Los Angeles for Starlets
Here is where they will likely meet the African giants and supposing they qualify, then they will feature in the fifth and final qualifying round (November 23-December 4) which will involve four teams from which only two will nick a ticket to the Olympics.
Starlets have never been to the Olympics and missed out on the 2020 Tokyo Games after losing to Zambia in the qualifying rounds before being locked out of the qualifiers for the Paris 2024 edition following Kenya’s FIFA ban.
LA 2028 Women's Olympic Football Tournament will take place from July 11 to 29, 2028.
Kenya now have their work cut out as they head into a busy period, starting with the delayed 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco from July 26 to August 18, which will also serve as the 2027 World Cup qualifiers given the top four will seal a ticket to the tournament.
