The Super Eagles forward has found himself at odds with the coach over tactical issues and playing time, which is believed to have affected team cohesion at a critical stage of the campaign.
Atalanta’s board opted for a change in leadership as they seek to revive their season and climb out of the lower half of the Serie A standings.
The club has reportedly also found a new manager to steady the squad and maximise the potential of players like Ademola Lookman ahead of the season’s crucial phases.
In response to their difficult start, Atalanta’s management has reportedly moved swiftly to appoint Raffaele Palladino as the new head coach. Palladino will step into the role with the task of stabilising the team and steering them back toward competitiveness in Serie A immediately after the international break.
The club will be hopeful that under Palladino’s leadership, players like Lookman can thrive once again and that Atalanta can climb the league table as they approach the crucial stages of the season.
The emphasis will be on rebuilding team cohesion and extracting maximum performance to revive what has been a disappointing start to the season from the former Europa League winners.
