Chuba Akpom: Iwobi reacts as Nigerian striker gives Thanks to God for PFA Championship Player of the Year Award
The first-ever recipient of the PFA Championship Players' Player of the Year Award is Nigerian striker Chuba Akpom.
In a breakthrough season for Middlesbrough, Akpom led the second-tier goal chart with 28 goals in just 40 games as they advanced to the Championship playoffs.
Josh Brownhill and Nathan Tella, who were crucial to Burnley's ascent to the Premier League, were beaten out for the accolade by Akpom.
Akpom on PFA Championship Players' Player of the Year Award
Akpom was accompanied to the PFA Award event by a lady in a red dress.
Following the accomplishment, the 27-year-old took to social media to celebrate the PFA Championship Player of the Year Award
Along with a photo was a message that said, "Extremely grateful for this award.
"To be acknowledged by the players I’ve been competing against over the season makes this even more special. Thank you. Gods Plan 🤞🏾
Akpom is not the first player to recognize spirituality and God in his accomplishments.

Iwobi reacts to Akpom's Players' Player of the Year Award
Super Eagles of Nigeria star Alex Iwobi joined in the celebration.
In the comments on the post, Iwobi congratulated Akpom for winning the award.
The Everton midfielder wrote, "Deserved!!"
Iwobi and Akpom have a history together as they both played for the Arsenal Academy and First Team.
Ajax paid a transfer price of €12.3 million to bring Akpom to Amsterdam before the 2023–24 season in recognition of the striker's accomplishments
Akpom, now with a Champions League team in Ajax, will now have the opportunity to team up with Iwobi on the Super Eagles ahead of the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
