Chinecherem punches ticket as Nathaniel advances to quarterfinals at NCAA West Preliminaries
Nigerian record holder in the men's javelin throw, Nnamdi Chinecherem will compete at the NCAA Championships for the second consecutive year after punching his ticket at the NCAA West Preliminaries.
The Baylor University sophomore student threw a distance of 74.77m to automatically surpass the 70m qualifying mark and secure his spot.

Chinecherem attained this feat in continual of his success at the BIG 12 Championships, where he made history for his school by winning back-to-back javelin titles for the first time in the school's history.
Meanwhile, his teammate Ezekiel Nathaniel ran a smooth race of 49.22s to effortlessly win his 400m Hurdles heat and advance to the quarterfinals.

Nathaniel will be gunning to not just secure his NCAA Championships ticket but get a podium placement at the championships after finishing fourth last year.
