CAF CL: Aucho stars as Young Africans pick first group stage win
Uganda Cranes deputy skipper Khalid Aucho put up a brilliant performance as his side Young Africans SC thrashed Ghana's Medeama in the CAF Champions League on Wednesday.
The colossus midfielder played 90 minutes and assisted Young Africans' first goal netted by Ivorian Peodoh Pacome ZouZoua in the 33rd minute at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
Controlling the tempo from his known deep-lying position, Aucho allowed various other attacks from his team as he effectively shielded the backline from conceding, eventually keeping a clean sheet.
Zambian forward Kennedy Musonda and Tanzanian midfielder Mudathir Yahya netted the other goals on the triumphant evening.
The result marked Yanga's maiden victory in the 2023/24 CAF Champions League group stages after four games.
They moved second in Group D to five points, the same tally as leaders Al Ahly, who have played a game less.
Meanwhile, Medeama descended to third with four points, while CR Belouizdad (three games) on four sit at the base.
