France Football has released the full 30-man nominee list for the 2023 Men’s Ballon d’Or award, and Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen has made the cut.
The award rewards the best male football player for a period in review, and the Napoli star makes the list for his impeccable campaign with the Partenopei last season.
Osimhen's astounding year
The Napoli forward heroically led the Naples-based side to their first league title in 33 years, the first since when Maradona played his football in that part of Italy.
Along with the Scudetto, the former Royal Charleroi forward also won the award for best forward in Serie A, as well as the Capocannoniere (Italian Golden Boot).
The striker has also been impressive for Nigeria in the ongoing African Cup of Nations qualifiers, and his seven goals in five games is currently the best in the competition.
He has continued his goal scoring exploits this season, scoring three goals in as many games for Rudi Garcia's side.
